David Currey has worked in the field of international education for more than 18 years. He holds a master's degree in education (college student personnel administration) from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a bachelor's degree in aerospace administration from Middle Tennessee State University.
David has held several leadership positions in NAFSA: the Association of International Educators. He was a Trainer Corps member, F-1 and J-1 Beginning Regulations (2001-2008); Lead Trainer, Region IV NAFSA Academy (2005-2006); and Regulatory Representative, NAFSA Region IV Team (2001-2003). In 2005, David participated in the Fulbright International Education Administrator Program in South Korea. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
In addtion to working in education, David served for eight years as a flight engineer with the U.S. Navy. In his free time, Currey is a resophonic (“dobro”) guitar music enthusiast and has his own family bluegrass band called Curreykorn.
