Emergencies

For emergencies of any kind, dial 911 on your telephone, and tell the operator what kind of emergency you have. This number will help you contact the fire department, the police department or an ambulance. Do not hang up until help arrives.

  • Minor medical emergencies can be treated at Providence Urgent Care (202 East Nifong Blvd., 573-874-6824) and at the University Physicians Urgent Care Clinic next to University Hospital (1101 Hospital Drive, 573-882-1662).
  • Ambulance services — If an emergency arises that requires an ambulance or a rescue team in Columbia, call 911 and explain the problem. Do not hang up the phone until instructed to. Tell the operator what the problem is, the location of the patient and other information he or she requests.
