After arrival checklist

Orientation

• Check in at the International Center. Bring passport, visa, passport, I-94 card, and assistantship letter (if applicable).
• Attend the new international student orientation  offered by the International Center.
• Attend the student orientation offered by your department/school.

Academics

• Meet with your academic adviser. Don't know who your academic adviser is? Check on MyZou or with your department.
• Register for classes after arriving in Columbia.
• Take the English exam if you are an undergraduate student or are enrolled in a graduate program that requires it. You will receive more information about this at check-in.
• Get your MU ID card inside the MU Bookstore.  Bring your passport with you.

Communication

• Log in to your MU email account. This is an important tool for communication as a student at MU.
• Call or email home. Be sure to touch base with your family.  You can access internet on campus after you set up your PawPrint.

Important Essentials

• Open a bank account.
• Get a phone.
• Apply for U.S. Social Security Card.
• Pay outstanding bills before registering for classes.

Living in Columbia

• Explore housing options if you have not yet arranged your housing.
• Learn more about the various resources on campus that can provide support during your first months in Columbia!
• Learn about how to find a part time job.
• Explore how to get around in Columbia (transportation).
• Learn about how to get your driving license or state ID.
• Connect to your cultural organization and other student organizations.
• Practice your English and learn more about programs at the International Center.
• Learn about activities happening on campus.
• Learn more about where to go and what to do in Columbia.
• Get involved and meet new people!
