OPT application process

Review the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about OPT, attend a mandatory OPT workshop (sign up for a workshop by visiting the front desk at the International Center or by calling +1 573 882 6007), and then complete the necessary forms:

• OPT Workshop Review (given to you at the OPT workshop).
• USCIS form I-765 — Note: Please choose from the following eligibility codes for question 16: (c)(3)(A) for pre-completion OPT, (c)(3)(B) for post-completion OPT, and (c)(3)(C) for a 17-month extension for an F-1 student who has received a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM), that appears on the STEM designated degree program list.

• OPT Application Checklist

When you have completed your forms, you're ready for Step 2.
