On-campus employment

  • F-1 students do not need the International Center's permission to accept employment on-campus.
  • J-1 students need a letter authorizing them for on-campus employment, and employment must be updated in SEVIS. Photo of Asian robe.You can work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the fall and winter semesters.
  • You can work more than 20 hours per week on campus during the summer semester and other designated breaks (winter and spring vacations).
  • A graduate assistantship is considered on-campus employment:
    • A .50 assistantship is equal to 20 hours of work per week, regardless of actual number of hours spent working.
    • A .25 assistantship is equal to 10 hours of work per week, regardless of actual number of hours spent working.
  • You are not eligible for "work study" employment.
