Eligibility

A student is eligible for this scholarship if, at the time of the application deadline, he or she:

  1. Has completed two regular semesters at MU (fall and spring terms are considered regular semesters);
  2. Is currently enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Missouri-Columbia in a degree program; and

A student is not eligible if, at the time of the application deadline, he or she:

  • Is not enrolled at MU as a full time student, in a degree program;
  • Is a Permanent Resident (PR) of the United States;
  • Is in F-2 dependent status;
  • Is in J-2 dependent status;
  • Is in a non-degree or "post-bac" academic status;
  • Is in a non-divisional academic status;
  • Is an undergraduate student with less than a 2.0 GPA;
  • Is a graduate student with less than a 3.0 GPA; or
  • Is a graduate student who has accepted an assistantship (Research, Teaching, or Graduate) in the same semester as being awarded a GIA Scholarship. (If a GIA Scholarship is awarded and the student receives an assistantship or scholarship involving a non-resident fee waiver, the GIA scholarship will be withdrawn.)

Higher priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received GIA support.
