Citizens of foreign countries generally need visas to enter the United States. A visa is permission to apply to enter the United States. It is a document which is affixed to a page in the traveler's passport.
Whether you are planning to come to MU as an international student, new faculty member or visiting scholar, you will most likely need a visa to enter the country legally. Most visas are issued at one of the U.S. Department of State embassies and consulates abroad.
Please read our Guide to Most-Used Visas, as well as the more detailed information we provide on the visa types that are most relevant to our international students, scholars and visitors.
