MU
() The International Center provides an orientation program every August and January to give new international students information essential to their stay at MU. Orientation events are designed to help international students feel welcomed to Columbia and to help ease what can sometimes be a difficult transition to life in the US. We are recruiting volunteers and orientation Leaders, who can assist in everything from shopping trips and arrival assistance to organizing and leading orientation sessions. Volunteer positions are very flexible, and participants can help out as much or as little as fits their schedule. Orientation Leaders are a distinct group of volunteers who are interviewed and selected by ISSS. Leaders are expected to commit more time to their position and they have the opportunity to coordinate specific aspects of orientation. Leaders should be available for a few meetings and a short leadership training during the summer, as well as the entire day of orientation (Monday, August 17). Benefits of becoming an orientation leader include gaining leadership experience, developing cross-cultural skills, helping new students, and having fun (all of which can help build a resume!). Apply here to be an Orientation Leader or Volunteer. For more information about orientation and volunteering, contact Jennifer Glass at GlassJS@missouri.edu. |
