An international student from Xi'an, China, Yue talks about how his father's influence led him to pursue a career in journalism and about his experiences at University of Missouri. Preliminary Fall 2011 enrollment data indicates that 854 chinese students currently attend MU, an increase of 31% from the previous year.
On November 18, 2011 the University of Missouri International Center hosted a thanksgiving dinner for new international students. The center provides comprehensive advising and support services to students from more than 100 countries at MU.
On October 18 Mizzou international students, along with several International Center staff members, had the opportunity to experience contra dancing firsthand! Contra dancing is a traditional style of line dancing that originated in Europe and made its way through the south into Missouri.

Our Annual Study Abroad Photo Contest is the perfect opportunity for recently returned study abroad participants to show off their skills (or luck) with a camera. The top photos are displayed in the International Center and at various locations across campus in the year following the contest. Winners receive cash prizes and framed copies of their photographs. Winners will be announced during International Education Week (November 14-18, 2011).

The International Center organized an excursion for nearly 100 MU international students to Jefferson City on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Their itinerary included getting ice cream at Central Dairy, exploring High Street, and touring the Missouri State Capitol.

SLIDESHOW - Remembering 9/11
The MU International Center hosted speakers Kristaan Versluys and Consul Brian Herman at the University of Missouri's Reynolds Journalism Institute the week before the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Versluys spoke about reponses to the attacks in literature while Herman spoke about how the tragedy affected Canada and how the US's relationship with Canada has changed since.
