Congratulations to MU students Michelle Tang and Chrsitine Assefa, recipients of scholarships through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. The Gilman program provides awards of up to $5,000 for U.S. undergraduate students to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Tang is a senior in biology and will be spending the spring semester studying in Australia through IFSA Butler, an MU affiliated program. Assefa is a sophomore in international studies. She will spend the spring 2012 semester participating on MU's Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) program. Each will receive $3,000 towards the cost of studying abroad.

As part of its committment to ensuring that the study abroad is affordable for all MU students, the International Center works closely with students in identifying and preparing applications for external scholarship opportunities such as the Gilman program. In addition, the center directly awards approximately $30,000 in scholarship funds each year. More information about financing study abroad is available on the International Center website.
