Accepting applications for photography/multimedia GRA

The International Center seeks a graduate research assistant for 2011-2012 academic year to support its growing communications efforts.  We are looking for someone who not only possesses strong technical skills in photography and video, but who can also take initiative in conceiving and producing digital multimedia stories that creatively showcase the center’s work.

This is a .50 FTE (20 hours per week), nine month assistantship with a pay rate determined by the MU Graduate School, subject to evaluation and renewal. Funding from the Graduate Student Support Program covers educational fees, non-Missouri resident fees, and medical insurance.

Alternatively, depending on the applicant’s skills and availability, this position could be divided into two standard, part-time positions of approximately 10 hours/week, without the accompanying fee waivers.

Occasional work on evenings/weekends may be required – primarily to photograph events that take place outside of office hours.

Responsibilities

  1. Photography
    • Provide photographic coverage for International Center activities, programs and events throughout the year.
    • Take staff photos as needed for the center website.
    • Manage the center’s Flickr site.
  2. Videography
    • Shoot, edit and post video profiles of students, faculty, staff and programs.
    • Manage the center’s YouTube channel.
  3. Multimedia - Conceive and produce digital multimedia content that integrates and showcases audio, video and photography for distribution via the International Center website and other media platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Admission to a graduate program at MU.
  • Proficiency in candid and still/studio photography and videography.
  • Proficiency with relevant Adobe CS5 applications.
  • Proficiency in video and audio editing.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Web design/development skills (xhtml/css).
  • Graphic design skills.
  • Interest in or experience with MU’s international programs and activities.
