A note to all MU study abroad participants:

As per our office’s policy, we are sending you this message to inform you that the U.S. Department of State issued a new Worldwide Travel Alert, on October 11, 2011. The U.S. Department of State issues travel alerts in order to disseminate information about short-term conditions, either transnational or within a particular country, that pose significant risks to the security of U.S. citizens. We ask that you please read the travel alert and use this as an opportunity to as a reminder to review the safety guidelines for U.S. study abroad participants included in your general pre-departure orientation manual and on our website. Most important, remember to remain aware of your surroundings at all times, and to continue to exercise good judgment. This Travel Alert expires on January 11, 2012.

Please note that the Travel Alert contains a specific reminder to make sure that you have registered with the U.S. Department of State’s Smart Travelers Enrollment Program (STEP).

As always, we recommend that you to read the information on the U.S. Department of State website for all countries where you plan to travel. This is the State Department's website for ALL types of advisories.
