3 levels of information

The U.S. Department of State uses a three-tiered system to help you make decisions about travel:
  1. Country Specific Information - General travel information such as entry/exit requirements, crime rates, medical facilities, etc..
  2. Travel Alerts - Issued for short-term events you should know about when planning travel to a country.
  3. Travel Warnings - Issued when you should consider very carefully whether to go to a country at all. Travel warnings trigger a related MU study abroad policy.

What is an Emergency?

An emergency is a situation affecting the health, safety and/or security of a participant on a University of Missouri study abroad program.

What Should I do in case of an Emergency?

After attending to the immediate needs of the person(s) affected, call the appropriate MU Emergency Assistance Number.

DURING OFFICE HOURS: International Center office hours, call the International Center Front Desk: +1 573 882 6007.

OUTSIDE OF OFFICE HOURS: Call the University of Missouri Police Department and they will contact an International Center staff member at home: +1 573 882 7201.
