Lessons from Abroad Conference

Congratulations on your recent voyage abroad! We know you are excited and brimming with stories of your experiences abroad and insights into your host country's culture. Might you be looking for a captive audience with whom to share those experiences, or are you seeking new ways to study, travel, or work abroad again? If so, then we invite you to join us for an insightful day of workshops and discussions to learn how to apply your overseas experience now that you're back!

Sessions descriptions

Showcasing your experience:  Resumes, cover letters, interviews and job searching. Learn how to convey your valuable international experience to potential employers. Tips for how to incorporate your study abroad experience into a job search, resume, cover letter, and job interviews.

Internationally-focused careers. Would you like to continue to use and develop your cross-cultural skills in a career after graduation? Possibly even go overseas again? In this session, you will learn about different internationally focused career options at home and abroad.

Graduate schools and fellowships. Learn about options for applying your international skills while continuing your education. Options in the U.S. and overseas, plus fellowship opportunities (going abroad for research, language study, funding possibilities, etc.).

Bringing your study abroad experience home: Campus, community and personal impact. How can you continue to build your cross-cultural skills now that you are back? Find out about involvement, volunteering, and tips to maintain language skills. We will also share ways to tell your story and remember your experience.
