() Before filling out the application forms below and collecting supporting documentation, please read the following instructions carefully. All application materials listed below must be completed correctly (tips for using on-line forms) and submitted on or before:
1. Application form. You must type all of the requested information. Be sure to sign and date your application at the bottom of page 2. 2. An official transcript. The transcript should be sealed in an official Registrar's Office envelope and submitted with the application form. Photocopies or unofficial "advising" transcripts will not be accepted. 3. Two academic letters of recommendation. Letters should be from professors; however, letters from graduate teaching assistants will also be accepted. Give the recommendation forms to the faculty members/instructors who will be writing letters for you at least 2 weeks prior to the application deadline. Ask that the instructor return the letter to you in a sealed envelope with his/her signature or stamp over the seal. Submit the letters of recommendation to your MU Study Abroad Program Coordinator with your application.
4. A 2-4 page typed, double-spaced essay for semester and year-long programs, 1-2 pages for summer programs, addressing one of the following two topics:
Note to students applying to year-long and semester programs: If the program for which you are applying requires fourth-semester foreign language proficiency or more, you must write your essay in both English and in the relevant language. 5. Download and fill in preliminary course choices on the Course Proposal for Study Abroad. Meet with International Admissions (230 Jesse Hall) and your Academic Advisor to have them review your selections. International Admissions and Academic Advisors will work together to guide you as to how the courses you plan to take overseas will transfer toward your MU degree. Finally, meet with the appropriate Advisor in your School or College's Dean's Office to obtain approval to study abroad. Advisors in each of these offices will need to sign your "Course Proposal for Study Abroad" (e.g., International Admissions, your Academic Advisor, and your Deans Office). Begin this process at least two weeks prior to the application deadline. 6. Scholarship Application Form (optional): By completing this application you will be considered for scholarships available through the International Center. 7. Submit your completed application to the appropriate MU Study Abroad Program Coordinator. All of the application materials listed must be received by the MU Study Abroad Program Coordinator by the above deadlines. Most semester- and year-long programs require an interview that will be scheduled shortly after the deadline. |
