Susmita in Singapore

Susmita Pendurthi
MU in Singapore at Nanyang Technological University (Journalism), Fall Semester 2002

"Singapore was a really interesting experience for me.  It's an unusual city, being both western, and Asian.  It is a really modern, clean, safe place to live.  The best part about it, for me, was that it is a gateway to the rest of Asia.  It is so easy to travel to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia from there.  It is a great area of the world to visit, with areas that are both touristy and untouched.  The beaches are amazing.  Singapore, itself, has all the modern amenities you could possibly wish for (there is a shopping mall every few blocks).  At Nanyang Technological Institute, I took journalism classes such as Visual Communication, International Communication, and Audio/Video Production.  The classes were fine, but Singaporeans work much harder than we do, so that took some getting used to. All in all, I had so much fun on my Study Abroad, and would recommend Singapore to anyone who wants to get off the beaten track." E-mail: susiepenn@hotmail.com.
