MU
() Health Insurance RequirementIn order to comply with the University of Missouri Collected Rules and Regulations regarding health and safety standards for University-sponsored study abroad programs, the University of Missouri, Columbia, requires that all participants in MU study abroad programs verify their enrollment in a comprehensive health insurance policy that will provide them with comprehensive coverage while they are abroad that is equal to or greater than the coverage provided by the HTH Worldwide Blanket Student Accident and Sickness Policy. Whether you are enrolled in the University of Missouri Student Health Plan, a plan through a parent's employer, or another type of plan, it is essential for you to be familiar with the coverage that you will have and the procedures that you will be required to use while overseas. Your domestic health insurance policy may not cover you while overseas, as many policies have strict coverage limitations, or only cover medical emergencies abroad If students find that they do not have insurance that will provide them with coverage abroad that is equal to or greater than the HTH Worldwide Sickness and Accident Policy, they must agree in writing to purchase the HTH Worldwide Blanket Sickness and Accident policy for Study Abroad. Students participating in Faculty-led programs administered by the MU International Center and participants in study abroad programs administered by the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) will be enrolled in the HTH Worldwide Sickness and Accident Insurance by their Program Directors. BenefitsIn addition to providing comprehensive sickness and accident insurance, the HTH Worldwide policy provides emergency travel medical insurance, including coverage for medical evacuation and repatriation of remains, which generally is not provided by domestic insurance policies. HTH also has identified a network of doctors worldwide who will provide treatment and file claims on your behalf without requiring payment at the time of treatment. Prior to departure for study abroad, HTH assists students in establishing treatment for on-going medical conditions while abroad (including doctor visits and continuing medications).
