The following resources may be helpful to MU faculty and staff travelling or working abroad. MU students studying abroad, international students and scholars should additionally consult the respective areas of our Web site for travel information specific to their needs (see inset).
Health and Safety
- UM System International Travel Insurance - The University of Missouri System has secured services through MEDEX and AIG WorldSource for authorized International Business travel. Services include 24-hour travel, medical and security-related assistance services (e.g. evacuation and repatriation of remains - NOT medical insurance). There is no cost for these Faculty/Staff International Business Travel resources - program brochures and identification cards are available at the Web site provided above.
- Guidance on using your UM employee medical and prescription drug benefits while abroad is available on the Office of Risk and Insurance Management's coverage summary snapshot
for international business travel.
- Travel Connections is an international traveler's health service through MU Health Care that helps medically prepare adults and children for travel abroad. Services include immunizations, travel-related prescriptions and information on environmental conditions including water, food, insect-borne diseases and weather. Note that immunizations required for travel are typically not covered by the university's medical insurance plans.
- U.S. Department of State International Travel Information - Includes travel warnings, travel alerts and other country-specific information.
