Katherine has a master's degree in journalism from Moscow State University in Russia. Before joining the International Center, she worked for the MU School of Journalism's Global Programs Office, assisting with the U.S. Department of State grant "Brining the Missouri Method to Moscow State University." Katherine speaks three languages — Russian, English and German — and lived for two years in Johannesburg, South Africa.
