David has worked in the field of international education for more than 20 years. He holds a master's degree in education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a bachelor's degree in aerospace administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

David has held several leadership positions in NAFSA: the Association of International Educators. He was a Trainer Corps member, F-1 and J-1 Beginning Regulations (2001-2008); lead trainer, Region IV NAFSA Academy (2005-2006); and regulatory representative, NAFSA Region IV Team (2001-2003). In 2005, David participated in the Fulbright International Education Administrator Program in South Korea He also participated in the State Department-funded Reconnect-Plus Indonesia program in 2009 to increase student mobility between the U.S. and Indonesia. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

In addtion to working in education, David served for eight years as a flight engineer with the U.S. Navy. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing pedal steel and resophonic guitars, cycling and reading. He and his spouse, Nancy, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by cycling the Katy Trail from Green Ridge to Machens, about 215 miles, over a five-day period.
