Dr. Scott began his international practice twenty years ago in a large, multi-year regional development project in the border regions of Ireland, with major funding from the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and the European Special Program for Peace and Reconciliation.

Over the years, his international work has evolved and expanded. Prior to his current role, he was director of MU's European Union Center. He served as the U.S. delegate to the International Steering Committee of the European Rural University and was one of 12 academic leaders selected to participate in a 2008 trans-Atlantic policy dialogue. He has represented the University of Missouri on projects in more than 30 different countries on five continents.

Dr. Scott holds joint faculty appointments in MU's Truman School of Public Affairs and Department of Rural Sociology. He has published numerous articles and research reports on rural and regional development policy, and the role of local government in community conflict resolution.
