Mary Stegmaier, Ph.D., is the interim vice provost for International Programs at the University of Missouri. In this role, she directs the International Center, which serves all international students and scholars, assures compliance with related federal regulations, manages university study abroad programs and fosters university international initiatives.

Dr. Stegmaier is an associate professor in the Truman School of Public Affairs. As a comparative politics scholar, she has spent extensive time conducting research in Central and Eastern Europe. Her research on international elections and voting behavior has been published in a variety of political science journals, including East European Politics and Societies, Electoral Studies, International Journal of Forecasting, Political Behavior, Public Choice and the Annual Review of Political Science. Dr. Stegmaier teaches courses on global governance, public service and democracy, and the European Union, and has led study abroad programs to Brussels and Prague. She has also served as an international election observer with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Macedonia.
