The meeting times and locations of these courses can be found in Mizzou\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/myzou.missouri.edu\/psp\/csprdc\/?cmd=login\">schedule of classes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-mizzou-accordion miz-accordion\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"miz-button miz-accordion__button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" data-miz-expand=\"802b38d7-e7dd-4742-806a-d97a65562f25\"><span>ELSP_3100: Grammar and Composition I<\/span><\/button><div class=\"miz-accordion__content\" id=\"802b38d7-e7dd-4742-806a-d97a65562f25\">\n<p>Students learn the grammatical patterns and sentence construction used in academic writing and focus on improving sentence-level grammatical accuracy in the writing of coherent, well-developed paragraphs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-mizzou-accordion miz-accordion\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"miz-button miz-accordion__button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" data-miz-expand=\"e2d55f4f-c1d0-4eb7-9927-fb7afca4842f\"><span>ELSP_3150: Grammar and Composition II<\/span><\/button><div class=\"miz-accordion__content\" id=\"e2d55f4f-c1d0-4eb7-9927-fb7afca4842f\">\n<p>Students learn how to write clear and well-developed multi-paragraph academic essays using various methods of organization through the process of planning, drafting, revising, editing and peer reviewing. Students also learn to work with sources. Grammatical structures relevant to the methods of organization are reviewed and practiced.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-mizzou-accordion miz-accordion\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"miz-button miz-accordion__button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" data-miz-expand=\"924d81a3-b99d-4d21-9647-80a37ca6ad8a\"><span>ELSP_3200: Reading and Vocabulary<\/span><\/button><div class=\"miz-accordion__content\" id=\"924d81a3-b99d-4d21-9647-80a37ca6ad8a\">\n<p>Students develop vocabulary and reading strategies required to comprehend academic textbooks and literature in various fields of study.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-mizzou-accordion miz-accordion\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"miz-button miz-accordion__button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" data-miz-expand=\"7b438787-a2a5-4dee-a681-7ae472e36570\"><span>ELSP_4400: Oral Communication<\/span><\/button><div class=\"miz-accordion__content\" id=\"7b438787-a2a5-4dee-a681-7ae472e36570\">\n<p>This course emphasizes the development of fluency and intelligibility in spoken English. Through individual and group activities, students work on improving pronunciation, practicing conversation strategies and delivering oral presentations. Enrollment in ELSP_4400 is restricted to graduate students and scholars who have attained a satisfactory score on the TOEFL.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grading and credits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ELSP courses are graded A\u2013F and count toward a student\u2019s GPA. Each course grade appears on a student\u2019s university transcript as a three credit-hour course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enrollment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Enrollment in an English Language Support Program course requires consent of the department. Students who are interested in taking ELSP 0100 (Grammar and Composition I), ELSP 0200 (Reading and Vocabulary) or ELSP 0300 (Grammar and Composition II) are required to take the Mizzou&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/international.missouri.edu\/elsp\/ele\">English Language Exam<\/a>, which is administered during the week prior to the start of classes in the fall and spring semesters. This exam is required of all new international undergraduate students, including transfer students. The exam results are used to determine placement in appropriate English language courses. Students may register for the exam by emailing <a href=\"mailto:elsp@missouri.edu\">elsp@missouri.edu<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students who are interested in taking ELSP 4400 (Oral Communication) will have a brief oral interview to determine their eligibility for enrollment.
