Event planning and promotion

The International Center is pleased to help support and promote international events at MU in a variety of ways:

General publicity

We can provide the following publicity for MU events (organized, sponsored or co-sponsored by an MU department or organization) that have an international focus:

  • Online event calendars — We can post your event to the MU Calendar of Events.
  • Digital ads — We can post event details or fliers directly to the television screen located in Hawthorne Lounge in Memorial Union. the lobby space just outside the International Center and Asian Affairs Center offices.  For best results, images should be 1920 x 1080 pixels (be sure to check the image at 100% magnification to make sure it is clear and readable).
  • Social media — We're always happy to support our friends on Twitter or Facebook!

To request assistance, please submit your event details and images to as early as possible.

Global Tigers email

Global Tigers is a weekly email sent to MU's international students, staff and faculty. Announcements may be submitted by MU organizations and departments, as well as by Columbia community organizations. All announcements must be non-commercial, and cannot advertise the sale of goods or services in any form. To submit an announcement, complete the online submission form.

Student organization funding requests

The International Center is pleased to co-sponsor special events and activities with MU officially-recognized student clubs and organizations that meet the following criteria:

  • Cultivate an awareness of global issues among the campus and local community.
  • Contribute to cross-cultural understanding and communication among faculty, staff and students.
