These documents are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passport (valid for at least six months beyond the dates of travel)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valid J-1 visa stamp in the passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DS-2019 authorized for travel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Any time you plan to travel, please bring your DS-2019 to <a href=\"\/isss\/advising\/walkin-advising\/\">walk-in advising<\/a> <b>at least two weeks prior<\/b> to your departure date. Be sure to also bring your passport and a copy of your I-94 record with you. Emergency situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to apply for a new visa J-1 visa stamp abroad, please submit updated financial information so that a new DS-2019 may be issued for you to present at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usembassy.gov\/\">U.S. embassy\/consulate<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Review our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/international.missouri.edu\/isss\/living-in-columbia\/additional-immigration-resources\/\">additional immigration resources<\/a>&nbsp;for a list of visa interview resources and resources for individual immigration issues and questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visa appointments in Canada and Mexico<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the increased security checks applied to third-country national visa applications at U.S. consulates in Mexico and Canada, International Student and Scholar Services advises against traveling to these border countries to apply for a visa.
