Participants may be international students or students from the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit an application to connect with others, create unforgettable experiences and share new perspectives and customs! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applications are accepted around the start of each fall and spring semester.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spring 2026 application deadline: Feb. 8\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Matches announced Feb. 13<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a class=\"miz-button miz-button--primary miz-button--brand\" href=\"https:\/\/missouri.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_bwQRLSD1ii6i6bk\">Global Tigers Connect application<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-mizzou-accordion miz-accordion\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"miz-button miz-accordion__button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" data-miz-expand=\"29640b8f-bd9c-43b7-956b-b7a686441755\"><span>Program purpose<\/span><\/button><div class=\"miz-accordion__content\" id=\"29640b8f-bd9c-43b7-956b-b7a686441755\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To support new students by connecting them with a continuing student who can provide tips for navigating life at Mizzou.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To provide continuing students with an opportunity to develop their global citizenship and leadership skills. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-mizzou-accordion miz-accordion\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"miz-button miz-accordion__button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" data-miz-expand=\"a6d509b0-efd8-492f-8d49-7440238bc75f\"><span>Matching process and expectations<\/span><\/button><div class=\"miz-accordion__content\" id=\"a6d509b0-efd8-492f-8d49-7440238bc75f\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>International Student and Scholar Services matches students near the beginning of each semester.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Matching is dependent on availability. If not enough participants sign up, matches will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We will do our best to match students according to the preferences indicated in your application. However, your preferences may not be available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participants should be open to meeting a peer from any culture, not just a specific culture of interest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expectations:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attend all Global Tigers Connect events for the current semester (usually two to three events). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet with your partner at least once a month during the current semester (more meetings are strongly encouraged).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are no longer able to participate, notify International Student and Scholar Services within&nbsp;<strong>five days<\/strong>&nbsp;of receiving your match.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refer any concerns or issues to International Student and Scholar Services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/accountability.missouri.edu\/university-policies\/\">MU Standard of Conduct<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-mizzou-accordion miz-accordion\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"miz-button miz-accordion__button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" data-miz-expand=\"dee52513-eff6-4ede-b258-21ec21405c24\"><span>Participant benefits<\/span><\/button><div class=\"miz-accordion__content\" id=\"dee52513-eff6-4ede-b258-21ec21405c24\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expand your social network, build community and ease culture shock. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get the inside scoop on campus and the Columbia community from a friendly peer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make new friends from different cultures and sharpen your intercultural communication skills. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discover fun local events, activities and things to do on campus and beyond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Continuing students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Boost your global citizenship and intercultural communication \u2014 important skills for today&#8217;s job market \u2014 by getting involved with Mizzou&#8217;s international student community. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make connections and build friendships with peers from around the world. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Step into a leadership role by sharing your tips and success strategies with new students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare to <a href=\"https:\/\/international.missouri.edu\/studyabroad\/\">study abroad<\/a> (or continue what you started) without leaving campus. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you looking to expand your social network to build community and ease culture shock?
