{"id":19,"date":"2021-07-15T20:06:46","date_gmt":"2021-07-15T20:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/international.missouri.edu\/orientation\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2026-07-24T16:11:33","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T16:11:33","slug":"health-insurance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/international.missouri.edu\/orientation\/mizzou-abroad-orientation\/learn-the-essentials\/health-insurance\/","title":{"rendered":"Health insurance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You should know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What international insurance coverage is available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to access that coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Insurance coverage available<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mizzou requires all study abroad participants to be enrolled in CAC insurance, the university\u2019s international insurance and assistance program that includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Chubb: Medical and accident insurance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AXA: 24\/7 global medical and travel assistance services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crisis24 Horizon: Online travel security information, destination intelligence and emergency alerts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accessing coverage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After you have received your CAC insurance card, you should go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/chubbtravelassistance.com\/axa\">Chubb Travel Portal<\/a>&nbsp;and create an account to access online medical and safety information. You can access the same information by downloading the Crisis24 Horizon mobile app for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.crisis24.horizon&amp;hl=en_US&amp;pli=1)\">Android<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/om\/app\/crisis24-horizon-mobile\/id1593231160\">iOS<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>In the event of a medical emergency<\/strong>, go immediately to the nearest physician or hospital and contact AXA at +1 630-776-7757(collect calls accepted).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>For non-emergency medical care and travel assistance<\/b>, notify your program&#8217;s on-site support person and contact AXA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For security or other assistance<\/strong>, notify your program&#8217;s on-site support person and contact the Mizzou 24\/7 emergency assistance line through the MU Police Department at +1 573-882-7201.
