You may also seek out and purchase a special travel insurance policy if you wish; however, the University of Missouri provides broad health insurance coverage for Mizzou faculty and staff members traveling internationally on university business, including leading a study abroad program. The university also provides emergency evacuation coverage in case of a medical emergency, political emergency or natural disaster at no cost to the Mizzou employee. This insurance can also guarantee payment in advance if a provider requires it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before leaving the U.S., you should <strong>download and save a copy of the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/us-prod-api-v2.terradotta.com\/file-api\/files\/public\/5C88297BF6380461EE0CF82F18E089C0\/file\/68881\"><strong>CAC travel ID card<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> All Mizzou faculty, staff and students have the same CAC travel ID card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you experience a medical emergency abroad, go immediately to the nearest physician or hospital, then contact AXA at +1 630-776-7757 (collect calls accepted). If you need non-emergency medical care or travel assistance, contact AXA at the same number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep all documents and receipts provided when receiving medical care abroad. These will be needed to process your claim for reimbursement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student health insurance and health information forms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is important to have some background about Mizzou students&#8217; pre-travel health planning and insurance to assist students with medical situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student health information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students are asked to disclose any on-going physical or mental health conditions as part of their study abroad application. Student health information may not be used to disqualify a student from participating in study abroad. It may be used to guide students to appropriate physical and mental health resources. In emergency situations in which a student is unable to speak, you may share student health information with health care providers abroad. Student health information in the hands of program leaders is protected by FERPA and should only be shared with those who have need to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Office of International Health, Safety and Security will provide student health information for your program participants prior to your departure. Students requesting disability accommodations should complete the accommodations request for students with disabilities in myStudyAbroad or be referred to the office at <a href=\"mailto:globalhealthsafety@missouri.edu\">globalhealthsafety@missouri.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student health insurance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All participants in Mizzou faculty-led study abroad programs are enrolled in CAC insurance, the university\u2019s international insurance and assistance program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accessing medical care<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a student needs to receive medical care (physical or mental health), call AXA at +1 630-776-7757 (24\/7, collect calls accepted). <strong>In an emergency situation, go to the nearest emergency room, then contact AXA.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students may contact AXA themselves, or you can open a case on a student&#8217;s behalf.
