On April 1, the last full day of our spring break program in Belgium, we got to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bruges. This charming town has been preserved in its most natural state and is littered with historical buildings, ornate churches and old-school marketplaces. Visiting Bruges was the equivalent of a real-life blast into the past and I’m so glad that we went. The town is in the Flemish region of Belgium, so most people spoke Dutch dialects and a little English. During this day-long visit, I went on a canal ride, took many pictures and ate the most delicious fish stew on the planet. Being able to experience the Flemish side of Belgium in its purest form was priceless. I highly recommend it.
