First and foremost, Alicante is the perfect city to live in. You are constantly surrounded by views of the mountains, the Castillo and the Mediterranean Sea. I spend my days taking walks on the beach, hiking, trying new coffee shops and exploring the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rTyWRg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55061181137_52a9ff0ab6_z.jpg\" alt=\"Hiking in Alicante\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Hiking in Alicante<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I also live with a host mom here, which greatly maximizes this experience. As a Spanish major, I was most excited about improving my language skills and being fully immersed in the Spanish culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rTyWQQ\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55061181112_0e9410b4a5_z.jpg\" alt=\"View of the beach in Alicante\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">View of the beach in Alicante<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My host mom is constantly helping me learn new things, and I have really enjoyed getting to chat in Spanish with her over meals and daily activities. We ended January with a group trip to Granada, which was such a fun weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rTERFg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55062334409_caff8cd910_z.jpg\" alt=\"Exploring Granada\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Exploring Granada<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We went to a flamenco show, visited the Alhambra and wandered through the narrow, colorful streets.
