Visa information

The information provided here applies to U.S. citizens and is subject to change without warning at the discretion of the Korean government. It is your responsibility to confirm all requirements and obtain the appropriate visa for the duration of your studies.

Read the information below carefully and contact your study abroad adviser if you have questions about the visa process or requirements.

U.S. citizens studying in Korea for more than 90 days are required to obtain a D-2 visa. In order to apply for a D-2 visa, you will need a valid passport, completed visa application and admission letter from the host university. Students residing in Missouri should apply at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chicago.

If you are studying for less than 90 days, you must declare yourself a tourist when you enter the country.

If you are not traveling abroad on a U.S. passport, you must:

  1. Notify your study abroad adviser.
  2. Determine if a visa is required for your study abroad program.
