The University of Missouri expects international students to know English well enough to:
- Comprehend academic lectures.
- Participate in discussions.
- Read textbooks and other academic materials.
- Write effectively.
In order to meet MU’s English language requirements for admission purposes, international students must submit a qualifying score on the TOEFL or IELTS exam. Once students arrive on campus, they are required to take the MU English Language Exam to re-evaluate their English skills. Based on the results of the exam, a student might be required to enroll in one or more English Language Support Program courses.
