Culture, Public Health and Social Service: South Korea

Experience Korean culture as you broaden your knowledge of culture, social and health issues, and health care and well-being from a global perspective. Global Internships

Spend your summer interning abroad while earning academic credit. No foreign language skills required. Eight-week placements available for public health majors. Some past placement examples in recommended locations include:

DIS: Summer Courses

Envision yourself in Copenhagen, Denmark, or Stockholm, Sweden, taking classes over the summer relevant toward your public health degree. Take advantage of the diverse catalog offered by DIS while participating in additional activities designed to expose you to your host country’s society and culture. 

DIS: Public Health

Explore the challenges and opportunities in public health issues from a European perspective on the DIS: Public Health programs offered in Denmark or Sweden. You’ll enroll in a program-specific core course, then build the rest of your semester with electives from across 70 disciplines. 

UMKC: Winter Break in Senegal 

Earn three credits while studying women’s empowerment, health education initiatives and social entrepreneurship in Senegal. Experience the hustle and bustle of life in the capital city as well as the slower pace of village life while enjoying Senegal’s famous Teranga (hospitality) with homestays in Dakar and at an ecohotel in Toubacouta.
