Sweet tooth

Food is a major part of any culture, and dessert has always been a love of mine. Being in Europe presented me with a number of opportunities to try different desserts. I always heard that they’d be better overseas, but I had no idea they’d taste as good as they did.

The waffles were far thicker and had an almost biscuit flavor. Smothered in chocolate or topped with strawberries and whipped cream, they were more than enough to make a mouth water. The cakes, similar to the waffles, were thick and tasted like fudge. They were moist and decadent, as was the tiramisu. Instead of ladyfingers, the tiramisu was made with a kind of coffee cake, crumbling with each bite. Accompaniments of chocolate and vanilla gelato made it reign supreme.

If I had been given the chance, I would have ordered a dessert with every meal. Honestly, I probably would have made every meal a dessert and skipped out on the “real food,” though it was equally as good. (My family would shake their heads at this.)

Losing these sweet treats is definitely going to be something I will need to get used to again. I am sure with time I will slide back into my normal cravings, but for now I will just have to muster through… and look up the recipes online, of course.
