Bonjour from Lyon, France! Recently, my friend Josh and I decided to take a trip to the southern coast of France to a city called Marseille. Marseille is the second-largest city in France and is famous for its port and views of the sea.

While we were there, we stayed close to the Vieux Port, which used to be a hub for incoming imports to France but now is more of a touristy area with lots of sailboats and other types of boats. While we were there, we explored the many restaurants and gelato stands that surround the port and the shopping as well. You could tell that Marseille was a port city from the seagulls in the air and the tropical colors of the buildings.

We also experienced a phenomenon called “The Mistral” in Marseille. The Mistral is a wind that comes to Marseille from winter to spring and can have speeds of 33-100+ mph! When we went it was around 40 mph. Marseille was definitely an interesting city to visit to learn the history of the port and the city.
