Learning abroad

Study abroad has been the greatest experience of my life, and it is quickly coming to an end. I wanted to share a bit about things I have learned abroad. I have learned about other cultures, life lessons and a lot about myself.

I have done a good amount of traveling during my time abroad. I had the opportunity to go to many different countries and other Spanish cities. I have gotten to try new foods like snails and tapas. I have gotten to see new art, parades and holidays. I got to meet new people and learn small bits of many different languages. It is eye-opening to see all these new things and has shifted my perspective from one that was more narrow.

I have learned a lot about the differences in our culture and daily life compared to Spain and other European countries. I have definitely had to learn to value experiences and learning over some of my usual comforts. I have been put in hard and uncomfortable situations and had to figure it out for myself. It truly brings independence I have never felt before.

I also have gotten to learn a lot about myself during my time abroad. I have discovered some of my strengths and weaknesses. I have found a potential career path. I have created new goals beyond my time abroad. Studying abroad has truly been such a special experience, and I am beyond sad to see it end. I encourage anyone who is even thinking about studying abroad to just do it!
