Settling in and exploring my city

I have adjusted to living abroad quite well. I know this is in part due to the fact that I am in an English-speaking country. When I was looking at exchange programs I also debated applying to universities in Spain and France. I was not confident enough in my Spanish or French speaking skills to immerse myself, so I went the other route. The United Kingdom is charming and easy to get around. Although uni is in a smaller city, it reminds me of Columbia which is kind of comforting. Downtown often hosts events and there are a lot of college students as well as locals throughout. There was a music festival during October that I checked out. Next week my friends and I are going ice skating in one of the city squares. Regarding getting to know the city, I have yet to explore it well. I tend to stick to the same main few streets and then head back to my flat. This weekend, though, I am going to tour the castle and then walk to the opposite side of town to see the park and the memorial there. The castle was the site of witch trial executions, but I want to know more about its history before and after that event. I think it is about time I saw some of the most famous places in my city.
