Self-reflection

I’ve been in South Africa for over a week now and have had to learn and unlearn so many things. For starters, they drive on the left-hand side, so I’ve had to train my brain to look the opposite way for cars. I assumed everyone here was African, but that was so wrong. There are people from all over. I had stereotypes in Africa due to what was taught to me in America, which were completely wrong. I’ve been to so many amazing places and seen so many breathtaking things in so little time. This country is absolutely amazing and the sense of culture is so heartwarming. I even discovered how many similarities Black people in America have faced and Black people in South Africa. Through all the suffering, both people were able to find joy and some happiness, although there is a long way to go for peace on both sides. There is hope, and when there is hope, anything can happen. Such a great experience!
