An experience of a lifetime

As my four weeks in Spain are coming to an end, there are a few things I would like to talk about. First off, do it! If there’s a slight thought of wanting to study abroad… GO! This experience will change your life and change your perspective on lots of things. Going into the program, not knowing my group on a personal level, was a bit nerve-racking. That did not last long, after celebrating the amazing San Juan Festival all night long on the first night of arriving in Spain with everyone. Being able to build such a close bond with a group of fellow students in such an amazing place is life-changing. Experiencing the cultural differences and exploring an entirely different country with a new group of friends was a lot of fun. Sharing all those experiences comes with a price and not a cheap one. Managing money is such an important thing to keep in mind when going abroad. Getting caught up in the moment and spending money can be very easy. So going on the trip with a plan is a great idea, budget per day and adapt to changes as the days go on.

Castle trip with our group!

Having not experienced any Spanish culture ever, this was all new to me. The Spanish are very welcoming and nice. Anywhere we went, from Mallorca to Barcelona, everyone was so friendly. A big thing that stood out to me was that the Spanish are personal people, they make all interactions feel personal. I noticed that while in elevators with completely random strangers, whenever they step out, they said goodbye or thank you, no matter who it is or how many people are in the elevator. Little things like this make you realize how amazing the Spanish culture truly is. As I wrap this up, I realize that I could talk for days about my experience here, but I’ll end it here, and I’ll leave the rest for you to experience for yourself.
