First month

I arrived in Italy on the morning of May 13. I moved into my apartment with seven other people: three from Mizzou, three from Michigan State University and two from the University of Michigan. We immediately became friends and planned trips together. I also got to learn about living in a city as big as Rome. I enjoyed using the metro and being able to walk across the street to my local market to buy groceries. The grocery store was smaller than ones in the U.S. but it had everything I needed to make meals abroad.

Second month

During my second month in Rome they had this wonderful festival called “lungo il tevere” which is a summer festival down by the Tiber River. During the festival artisans and restaurants set up tents and after 7 p.m. you can go down to enjoy the night life. One thing that took some getting used to abroad was how late everything goes in Italy most people did not even get to dinner until around 7:30 p.m. and would not be done until 9 p.m. and the people are out until midnight even on the weekdays, however as my weeks drew to a close I was used to it and was well acquainted with the late nights. I will miss my time in Rome and their wonderful culture.
