Host Family Fun

Since arriving in Alicante, Spain, I have been living with a host family that has been hosting students for 30 years. The experience was extremely intimidating at first, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Upon arrival, I knew it would to be a challenge when they didn’t speak any English, and I’m only a beginner in Spanish. After a few days, I became more comfortable, and the family reassured me many times. They wanted me to feel at home, and over the past month, I do. I have my own privacy, while also feeling like I have a home away from home.

I am learning so many new things from them as well. They have shown me typical Spanish meals, taught me new ideas and much more. One of my favorite activities is watching a Spanish dating show with the mom every night after dinner. Regardless of the language barrier, it feels like I am bonding more with them everyday. I have already learned and adapted so much, and I am so excited to see what the future holds for me in the next three months in Alicante!
