Assignments vs. adventure: The struggle is real

Lately, my life has felt like a tug-of-war between school assignments and the adventures waiting outside my door. I mean, how am I supposed to focus on group projects and 2,000-word papers when all I can think about is my next trip? The more assignments pile up, the more my mind drifts off to places I haven’t been yet (or places I want to go back to). If there is one thing that I would tell someone that is planning on studying abroad is that it’s a constant battle: finish my homework or go out and explore the brand-new world? Lately exploring has been winning.
Recently, I escaped the study grind and took an unexpectedly breathtaking trip to Tasmania. Let me tell you this place is insanely beautiful! One of the most underrated places that I’ve visited. First, I petted kangaroos (yes, actually petted them!) and they are softer than freshly cleaned cashmere, strolled along the most stunning beaches I’ve ever laid eyes on, and soaked up the untouched beauty of Australia’s southern treasure. I’ve got two words for you, Wineglass Bay. This place was something out of a movie! It was everything I needed to remind myself that there’s a big, exciting world out there — waiting to be explored, right after I submit those essays, of course!
Now, the itch to travel is stronger than ever. However, as a stereotypical broke college student I’m going to have to spend a few good hours at work. Along with this, that pesky homework keeps popping up. So I’ve been working hard, clawing my way through the assignments with adventures being my light at the end of the tunnel. And trust me, my travel calendar for the next few months is looking pretty packed. Thailand and Vietnam are on the horizon, with their vibrant cultures, incredible food and the promise of great explorations. I can’t forget about Western Australia, with its rugged coastlines and epic landscapes calling my name. Thankfully, I’ll get the opportunity to travel with my mom up the coast! So yes, assignments may be piling up and there’s long hours at work, but they’re fueling my future travels. The more I work now, the more I get to explore later. For now, I’ll keep daydreaming about the places I’m going while powering through my homework, one coffee-fueled study session at a time!
