New perspectives

My study abroad program to Costa Rica was full of new experiences, great people and amazing views. One of my favorite parts was visiting a local community center called Sifais. We got to spend time learning how the center supports the neighborhood. This community center helps thousands of children each year achieve educational goals and allows for other hobbies such as sewing, music and hair services to create future job opportunities.
We also got to speak to one of six appeal judges in Costa Rica who informed us all about the juvenile justice system. I learned so much about the differences and similarities between Costa Rica and the United States.
We also had some awesome adventures in nature. The weather changed a lot, but even the rain felt peaceful. We had the chance to visit a volcano and hot springs as pictured. This was an experience that opened my eyes to the new perspectives and adventures the world has to offer. Being in Costa Rica helped me slow down, enjoy the moment and learn outside of the classroom. It was an experience I will always remember.
