An experience to remember

My ten-day study abroad program to Greece was one of the best and most enriching college experiences at Mizzou thus far. It was my first time out of the country, and I am so grateful for the cultural experience it provided. I have a passion for sculptural art and was amazed by all the statues I was able to see up close in various museums. This experience was truly unique because of the different places in Greece we were able to travel to. It allowed for a broader perspective in Greece as a whole. Each museum we visited had incredible artifacts, many of which I had only previously been able to see through photos.

The breathtaking landscapes are difficult to capture in a single photo. The history of Greece goes back a great many years, and this could be seen throughout our program. We walked through so many different ruins and archaeological sites. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the mythology and history of everything we saw. She would paint a picture of what life had been like and bring each archaeological site to life. There are so many different historical places this study abroad program gave me the opportunity to see for the first time.

I think one of my favorite memories from this experience was the group dinners. We all bonded over delicious Greek food and made so many new friends. The friendships I made over the ten days will stay with me throughout the rest of my time at Mizzou and beyond. I am so incredibly grateful to have met such a wonderful group of people. There are so many students at Mizzou that it can sometimes be difficult to make friends or get to know people. Studying abroad is a wonderful way to meet new people and make friends while attending Mizzou. I will never forget or regret this experience and will constantly reminisce on the beautiful memories these ten days in Greece provided.
