My time in Bergamo

As I settle back into my usual routine after spending a month in Bergamo, Italy, I want to reflect on what a transformative experience I had. Before this, I had never left the country, and I was excited but nervous to go alone. During this program I met several great friends who were also studying abroad, as well as Italian classmates who helped make my time there fun! Together we went to Rome, Florence, Milan, Pompeii and several other breathtaking locations.

One of the most unique experiences I will ever have took place in Rome, where I saw the Pope. I learned so much about public transportation because I took the trains many times, and also took a night bus, which wasn’t too bad at all. I learned to also carry some local currency wherever I am, so I’m prepared for public restrooms and transportation costs. I also greatly enjoyed learning in Italian classrooms with great professors. I enjoyed challenging myself with the fast-paced process of learning because of my short time there, as well as the different grading system which encouraged me to keep up with my studies as much as I could. I was extremely happy with my final grades and felt that I would retain so much of what I learned!
