New friends in a new country!

Coming to a new country for the entire summer not knowing anyone was for sure an intimidating task. I somehow really didn’t feel nervous to come abroad even though I had no expectations for what was to come. There was lots of orientation the first week/weekend which gave me a chance to meet some new friends and it helped that everyone else was in the same boat. I think it was important for me to realize that everyone else didn’t know what to expect as well. I was expecting to learn a lot of new cultural differences between from where I am from and London, but surprisingly enough I have learned through all of my friends in the same program how much of a difference there can be from people all over the U.S.
In a two month program, friendships almost have to move fast as you are with each other 24/7 and exploring new cities together. I am grateful that I have made lots of good friendships that have made my experience better than I could have ever expected. I think one piece of advice I have learned is to never say no to things and put yourself out there as much as possible to make the most of the short time here!
