Last month in Korea

It is the last month of my year long study abroad in Seoul, South Korea. I have had both fun and difficult times, times both exhilarating and exhausting. Overall, a very well balanced experience. As I have been reflecting over my time here, I realize just how much I have grown as a person, and how much I have been shaped by the people and culture around me. I am so thankful for everyone I have met in Korea, and amazed at how much I have learned by being in Korea.

I think studying abroad has taught me that I need to leave my comfort zone more often, and challenge myself to try new things, because even if I don’t enjoy it, at least I can say that I tried. As sad as I am to be leaving South Korea, I am also just as equally grateful to have had the opportunity to study abroad in Seoul, and I hope to visit again. I am also inspired to travel to other countries, particularly the countries that some of the friends I made at SNU are from. Because honestly, what was partially kind of shocking to me was that although I made a lot of Korean friends, I met so many people from other countries as well, and got to experience their culture and languages through them. I would definitely recommend studying abroad, especially to anyone looking to broaden their world view.
