My month in Peru was a highlight of my college experience! I spent three weeks in Lima, staying with the sweetest host, Federico. I took two classes, Peruvian literature and Peruvian culture, at the University of Antonio Ruiz de Montoya. I loved that our classes were small and hands-on. Outside of class, our group went on many different excursions. A few of my favorites were the Pachacamac ruins, downtown Miraflores and the Larco Museum. I also enjoyed having free time to explore the city with my friends and spend time with our host family.

During our last week in Peru, we traveled to Cusco, where we had the opportunity to learn more about the country’s culture and history. We traveled all around the region to different cities, including Ollantaytambo, Santa Teresa and Aguas Calientes. We also got to visit Machu Picchu! The Andes Mountains and the Amazon Rainforest are both stunning, and I loved getting to spend some time outside of the big city learning about Peruvian history.
