Global Tigers Connect

Are you looking to expand your social network to build community and ease culture shock?

Global Tigers Connect facilitates cross-cultural interactions by matching new international students with continuing Mizzou students. Continuing students can be another international student or a student from the U.S.

Submit an application to connect with others, create unforgettable experiences and share new perspectives and customs!

Applications are accepted around the start of each fall and spring semester.

  • Spring 2025 application period: Jan. 1–Feb. 10
    • Matches announced Feb. 17

Global Tigers Connect application

  • To support new international students by connecting them with a continuing student who can provide tips for navigating life at Mizzou.
  • To provide continuing students with an opportunity to develop their global citizenship and leadership skills.
  • International Student and Scholar Services matches students near the beginning of each semester.
    • Matching is dependent on availability. If not enough participants sign up, matches will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • We will do our best to match students according to the preferences indicated in your application. However, your preferences may not be available.
    • Participants should be open to meeting a peer from any culture, not just a specific culture of interest.
  • Expectations:
    • Attend all Global Tigers Connect events for the current semester (usually two to three events).
    • Meet with your partner at least once a month during the current semester (more meetings are strongly encouraged).
    • If you are no longer able to participate, notify International Student and Scholar Services within five days of receiving your match.
    • Refer any concerns or issues to International Student and Scholar Services.
    • Follow the MU Standard of Conduct.
