Optional Practical Training

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is off-campus employment that is related to your major field of study and is a benefit of the F-1 visa status.

Note: If you want to apply for OPT, we recommend submitting your application to USCIS at least three months before you want to begin working. Your application must be received by USCIS before your grace period is finished (60 days after graduation).
